Ryan Davies has been a professional lighting designer and educator since 2004. He has collaborated with many professional theatre companies, including Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Shaw Festival of Canada, Cardinal Stage Company, Williamston Theatre, The Brown County Playhouse, The Bloomington Playwright's Project, and several Chicago area theatres. Ryan has taught at Michigan State University, Indiana University, College of Lake County, and Whitney Young High School in Chicago.
Ryan's lighting design for Eleemosynary won a 2011 Rogue Critic Award for "Excellent Lighting Design in a Thrust Configuration". He was the Production Manager of Summer Circle Theatre, which was honored with the East Lansing Crystal Award of 2012. He was the Lighting Supervisor for Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, winner of the 2008 Regional Theatre Tony Award. In 2006 Ryan won the Gary Geiser Award for three years of excellent lighting design as a graduate student at Indiana University. He earned his undergraduate degree from Eastern Washington University, where he was awarded the Theatre Angel Scholarship.
Ryan lives with his wife and two daughters in Fishers, Indiana. He enjoys travelling when designing, assisting, or for just for fun. He was born in Bangor, North Wales, and grew up on Vancouver Island, Canada.
